💊TODAY'S TOPIC:
*TESTING OUR LOVE FOR GOD.*

*📖 Bible Text:*
Deuteronomy 13:1-4, NLT:-
🖍️🖍️🖍️🖍️🖍️🖍️🖍️
1. “Suppose there are prophets among you or those who dream dreams about the future, and they promise you signs or miracles,
2 and the predicted signs or miracles occur. If they then say, ‘Come, let us worship other gods’—gods you have not known before—
3 do not listen to them. The Lord your God is testing you to see if you truly love him with all your heart and soul.
4 Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.

*Hymn:*
'Need Thee Every Hour*' - BH 334

*RBT Passage:*
Jeremiah 40-43.

*🔑 Golden Verse:*
_“You must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer, The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 13:3, NIV_

*📗 The MESSAGE:*
A young pastor sought the counsel of a pastor friend of his on how to grow his church. He said he had tried everything he knew to make the 15year-old church grow, but things have not been working. His friend took him to an ‘elderly prophet’ who could help him. When they got to the ‘elderly prophet’, what he asked him to do was not consistent with the Scripture. When we face challenges in life, we can be tempted to seek solutions from all kinds of sources.

This is why Moses warned the Israelites against believing in prophets who follow after other gods. The instruction Moses gave to the Israelites underscores the reality of this deceiving prophets, and that God would use them to test His people’s love for Him. When this happens, God’s people are encouraged to follow the Lord, revere Him, keep His command, serve Him, and hold fast to Him.

Seeking for miracles and signs have led many people into the traps of false prophets and miracle merchants, whose ways contradict the Bible. Some life’s challenges can be God’s way of testing our love for Him. When your own testing comes, do not fail God. In the midst of your challenges, resist the temptation for quick fixes which can lead you away from God. Depend on God alone; believe His Word, and hold unto the profession of your faith. God’s ways may not be quick, but it is the only way to lasting peace and joy.

*Wisdom:* Our love for God is tested in difficult times.

*Food for Thought:* Am I a God-seeker or a miracle-seeker?

*Follow-up Action:* Spend some to pray for people who are passing through challenges, that they will hold on to God.

*Prayer:* Lord, help me not to fall into the trap of false prophets.

Spirit of the living God, fill me afresh. Make and mould me after thy will. Cause me to be what You want me to be in Jesus’ name.
